Jason was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A) in 2000. He has served as a pastor to churches in Florida and Pennsylvania. As a Navy Chaplain, he served personnel overseas, provided care to sailors on the high seas, and worked in a hospital. He has degrees in Comparative Religion, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Divinity, and Spirituality.  Jason is married to Dao Hefner, and they have three daughters, Lily, Arwen, and Melody. He enjoys swimming, reading, biking, and playing guitar.
